The Almonds Pre-School

EST 1966

A long established pre-school working with parents/carers for the benefit of the child

Our Aim

To enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent/carer involving, community based group

To provide an environment for all children that is welcoming, safe and stimulating

To work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and their families and where children are able to enjoy 'learning through play', to grow in confidence and to fulfil their potential

We offer education and care for children below school age and over the age of 2 years

Early education forms the basis of your child's future and it's all delivered by Learning Through Play. In partnership with parents, we ultimately aim to ensure your child will be as 'Ready for School' as possible, by the time they leave us. This means that children should have strong social skills, can cope emotionally with being separated from parents, are relatively independent in their own personal care and have a curiosity about the world and a desire to learn. Through a combination of long serving dedicated members of staff, a huge range of resources and an interesting and varied curriculum we believe we can offer "The best for every child"

We offer your child

  • An interesting and varied curriculum which builds towards the EYFS educational programmes
  • The support of a personal Key Person
  • A gradual introduction to school-type activities and routines
  • Fun and friendship with children and other adults in a resource-rich environment

Special Needs

Each child is able to progress at their own rate in all areas of development, and this is especially important for children who may require additional support in a particular area, has learning difficulties or disabilities.

Key-Person

Our Key-Person system gives each member of staff particular responsibility for just a few children. However, a child's Key Person has responsibility for understanding where a child is developmentally, how they are engaging and progressing with the curriculum, and is there to support individual wellbeing and develop and tailor their learning. Children will be allocated a Key Person once they have settled into the group

Record Keeping

Throughout their time at Pre-School, your child's Key Person will be creating a 'My Pre-School Journey' book which will be formed of moments, pictures, snippets of their time with us, as a keepsake, which will be given to parents when your child leaves the Pre-School.

Adult Ratios

We are proud of our high ratio of adults to children in the group. This ensures individual attention to the needs and development of each child

Outdoor Play

We have access to outdoor play at all times whether it is by means of the grassy area behind the village hall, the basketball court for physical activities or our freeflow enclosed area at the rear of the building. It is essential that your child has access to a warm top if cold and a named hat to protect from the sun. Sun cream should be applied prior to arriving at school as necessary.

Photographs

Photographs of children are taken as part of our curriculum evidence, also some parents like to video special events as a keepsake. Please advise a member of staff if you have any objections to photographs being displayed or videos being taken. Parents please note that such information should not be shared with Social Networking Sites.

Attendance

Children are required to attend a minimum of two sessions when joining the Ladybird Class and a minimum of three sessions when moving on to either the Butterfly or Rainbow classes in September, the academic year before joining school.
